Your Vision Jet Type Rating — Done Right

A personal, train-to-proficiency-based path from owner-pilot to typed jet pilot

The SF50 Vision Jet type ride is flown to Airline Transport Pilot standards — no matter what certificate you hold today. Vectored Approach was built around that reality: we train private, instrument-rated owner-pilots to ATP-level precision first, then deliver the type rating itself in the airplane — yours or our 2025 SF50 G2+. The entire program, from assessment through checkride, can be completed at your location or ours in Austin, Texas — on your schedule.

1 · ASSESS

One assessment day on your RealSimGear FTD or ours — at our location or yours — sets your personal roadmap. You train only what you need.

2 · PREPARE

Stackable one-day modules build systems knowledge, avionics mastery, and ATP-level precision — on our RealSimGear FTD or yours. Every client flies the Emergency Training Core: engine failure, engine fire, and CAPS, flown to conclusion.

3 · RATE

Three immersive training days flown entirely in the aircraft — yours or our 2025 SF50 G2+, at our location or yours. Practical test on day four, graded to FAA-S-ACS-11A, examiner arranged by us. Day five held in reserve.

Why a “Vectored Approach”

VAVJ_Underside_002 (1).jpg

► Proficiency-based, not calendar-based. The assessment decides your module list — strong areas move fast, weak areas get the time they deserve. One exception: every client flies the Emergency Training Core — the CAPS pull and the lowest-altitude engine failures can only be trained in the FTD.

► One instructor, your aircraft or ours, your pace. Personal instruction start to finish, in the environment you'll actually fly — not a training-center assembly line.

► Complete curriculum, built in-house. Systems ground school, memory & recall training, our own Vision Jet Maneuvers Guide, and an RVSM course with certificate.

► Choose your location. Our location in beautiful, sunny Austin, Texas — or the location of your choosing. We can travel to you!

AQP Discipline

The Advanced Qualification Program is how airlines train: begin with a task analysis, define what proficiency looks like, measure it on every event. We apply that methodology to our Vision Jet training curriculum. Every task element is trained to proficiency — graded on every lesson to FAA ACS standards, and to VA proficiency objectives.

Safety resource management is the disciplined use of every resource available to an aviator — automation, information, ATC, cockpit flows, checklists, and the pilot's own attention — to keep every operation inside its safety margins. In the Vision Jet, certified for a single pilot, that discipline becomes single-pilot resource management: an automation policy, workload triggers, and aeronautical decision making (ADM), built into every element we teach.

Safety Resource Management

Vectored Approach is an aviation training program development tour de force in both the Part 135 and Part 61 space. VA partners with Executive Aircraft Services, a premier charter operator, to provide training curriculum and an SMS umbrella for their professional crews. EAS's flight operations and in-house maintenance system live under a robust SMS — and EAS Vision Jet fleet operation efficiency and safety initiatives flow back to our Part 61 training and into your flight deck.

  • VA Type Rating Preparedness: We can prepare you for the rigors of Jet Type Rating training in our RealSimGear FTD or yours.

  • Six ground lessons build systems knowledge, FTD lessons build and reinforce procedural fluency, flight path awareness and energy management: Perspective Touch+ avionics mastery, automation management, coupled and hand-flown approaches, emergency procedures.

  • 16 Modules are tailored and stackable to fit your training needs. Every client flies the Emergency Training Core engine failure, engine fire, and the CAPS activation.

  • Three immersive training days flown entirely in the aircraft your own Vision Jet, or our 2025 SF50 G2+ — beginning with the complete preflight inspection taught at the aircraft per the AFM. Each day flys a 3.3-hour training block: normal procedures and the full maneuver series, emergencies and the complete approach set, then a real-world line flight and a full mock checkride.

  • Day four is the practical test with an FAA examiner we arrange, graded to the ATP ACS. A fifth day is held in reserve for weather or additional proficiency. The readiness gate ensures you arrive prepared.

Built around your calendar, not ours

Purchase a RealSimGear SF50 Pro FTD, put it in your home or office and we can travel to you for the Prep modules. Or, come to Austin to our training center locations at KAUS or Spicewood Texas (88R). Book one day at a time, weeks apart or back-to-back — whatever your schedule allows. Many owners spread preparation over a month or two, then block four days for the type course. Ready now? After the Emergency Training Core, the assessment can route you straight into the four-day Type Rating course.

Statement from the President

"What makes Vectored Approach so different from any other Vision Jet training entity is our years of experience building, refining and preparing our clients for the Vision Jet Type rating check ride. We know the difficulties that students must overcome with limited experience trying to succeed in a type rating course that must meet FAA ATP standards. The two greatest obstacles that Vision Jet students face is IFR procedural proficiency and automation fluency. Vectored Approach has the know-how to not only prepare our clients to enter type rating training but also what is required to successfully pass their rating check ride. Our preparedness course is a powerful program of skill building, empowerment, confidence and depth of knowledge that gives our clients all of the tools that they will need to excel in school and to truly enjoy the experience. Come join us, we will make you great."
